NEC was adopted in HKSAR Government works contracts for over 15 years in parallel use with its GCC (1999).  NEC (HK) Edition published by the Development Bureau of the HKSAR Government in 2023 turns new page to the full NEC implementation not only on works contracts but moving towards professional service procurement.  The Development Bureau has plans to start engaging Architects under NEC PSC, (professional service contract) in the very near future to act as an Architect and / or the NEC Project Manager.  It is both a challenge and an opportunity professionally and commercially for Architects to familiarise themselves on NEC in order to be proficient and effective in running these new roles.

The Induction Course has two parts in two evening sessions.  The first session covers the fundamentally different concept, purpose, objectives, approaches and strategies of NEC from conventional contracts such as SFBC and GCC.  The second session looks at how these unique NEC features affects the ordinary ways Architects in Hong Kong handling their project controls, and the necessity to essentially adapt their mindsets and administrative skills in successfully maneuvoring through NEC works and service contracts.
