The Guoqing Temple is located in Dongtang Town, Pudong District of Shanghai. In the plot, there used be the Yu Gong Temple, which was built for commemorating Yu Dayou, a famous anti-invasion warrior in the Ming Dynasty. The project covers an area of 8196 square meters and has a gross floor area of 6836 square meters. The project has three floors above ground and one floor underground. The buildings include the Temple of the Heavenly King, the Daxiong Hall(The Mahavira Hall), the Guanyin Hall, the Jialan Hall and other main Buddhist halls, as well as a building for guests and a monk's quarters. In the underground floor, there are some supporting functions, such as a garage, a meditation center, and a dinning hall.
