Collaborating involves working together toward shared goals. The UIA World Congress of Architects 2026 concluded by positioning architecture as an evolving practice grounded in interdisciplinary dialogue, research, and collaboration, all shaped by ongoing geopolitical, environmental, and humanitarian crises and their profound societal impacts. Within a discipline inherently collaborative in practice, collaboration is central to design studio pedagogy. Beyond teamwork, collaboration requires creativity, communication, and negotiation with individuals whose ideas, knowledge, and experiences may differ significantly. The strength of collaboration emerges when the focus shifts from the individual to the collective—from “I” to “us,” from “mine” to “ours,” encompassing our school, community, city, region, and planet—and when we recognize that creation is an act of care. This public lecture series will examine whom we collaborate with, how these creative collaborations occur, and who remains outside our current networks.
This lecture series is coordinated by Dorothy Wong (BAAS 2028), Victor Zhuang (BASc (Design+) 2027) and Prof. Eunice Seng.
