Issue 78 – Countryside

In this issue, we explore the relationship between urban and rural areas and the meaning of countryside. The contemporary countryside is a place whose distinct character, cultures, values and relationships driven by the complex involvement of communities and heritages with the natural landscapes and post-productive ecologies. Issue 78 attempts to acknowledge transformation of rural areas for the sake of contemporary urban living, appreciation for environment-friendly lifestyle, rediscovery of traditional practices and wisdoms, health benefits and recreational potentials of country parks in the wake of the pandemic, as well as attendant implications for our collective life on the planet in the face of climate and environmental issues.
