General building plan (GBP) submission involves large amount of calculations, schedules and diagrams to demonstrate compliance with the requirements under the Buildings Ordinance (BO) and allied regulations. Digital transformation of the GBP preparation and checking processes enables standardising the interpretation under BO and creation of automation which could greatly save the manual effort in handling and verifying the accuracy of the information or data involved and in turn enhance the efficiency, quality and certainty of the submission.
To support the industry, the Buildings Department (BD) has developed the GBP Calculators* for automated calculation of gross floor area and site coverage. The standard schedules produced by the tool could be readily imported and updated in the calculation sheets prepared by AutoCAD for submission to BD.

In this workshop, representatives from BD will brief you on the key features of the tool and demonstrate how the automated functions could make the complicated calculation process easy, dispensing with going through a mountain of detailed requirements in regulations/practice notes. They will also share the latest development on the BIM automated area checking tool tasked to be released in Q1 2024.
