cruise terminal-1.jpg

Kai Tak Cruise Terminal Building, Hong Kong - (In associated with Foster + Partners)

Occupying a 7.6-ha waterfront site at the southern end of the runway of a former airport in East Kowloon, the HK$8.2 billion infrastructure project is the key to developing Hong Kong into a regional cruise hub in Asia and enhancing its position in tourism. The 2 berths of the Terminal can accommodate the largest cruise ships (up to 220,000 gross tonnes) in the world, whilst the building itself offers ample space for passenger check-in/waiting and baggage handling so that cruise guests can check in and collect their baggage efficiently and comfortably. Five boarding bridges, manufactured in Spain, can be flexibly used along the two berths. The highly efficient customs, immigration and quarantine (CIQ) facilities will be able to clear 3,000 passengers per hour.
The project has been given a provisional Platinum rating under BEAM Plus and a Merit Award by The Hong Kong Green Building Council in 2012.
Total GFA: Approx. 72,000m2
Completion: 2014

the Wings-1.jpg

The Wings, Tseung Kwan O, Hong Kong

As one of the largest transit-oriented developments (TODs) in the City and built on top of a underground railway station, the Wings was conceived as a self-contained comprehensive development comprising residential, hotel, serviced apartment, retail, entertainment, infrastructure and public realm elements. The orientation and disposition of the development were driven by the environmental objectives to optimise accessibility, connectivity and human comfort through thoughtful passive building design. The completed project helps create a major urban hub in Tseung Kwan O, strengthening the pedestrian network by providing efficient links to the adjoining MTR station, public transport interchange, adjoining developments and future district open space.
