M+ Pavilion

The M+ Pavilion is the first completed permanent building in the West Kowloon Cultural District.

It is a two-storey art exhibition venue designed and led by VPANG architects ltd in cooperation with JET Architecture Inc and Lisa Cheung, and the building has won the first prize in its international open call.

The architecture is portrayed as a floating art platform. It is elevated on a berm, blending itself into the surroundings of the city Park by mirrored external walls; while to enter the building and arrive at an elevated outdoor terrace, an expansive scene of the Hong Kong skyline come into view. Viewing art in both exterior and interior, audience shall experience a zero distance between the architecture and its ambience, under natural light and away from noise. Inside, gallery spaces are created to serve for multi-disciplines - artists, designers and organizations to stage independent smallscale exhibitions and events in the Art Park.

Jockey Club Kitchee Centre

Founded in 1931, Kitchee Sports Club is one of the most prestigious football club in Hong Kong and has been sparing no effort in promoting football culture in Hong Kong.
In 2017, they are determined to further step up to the global stage, and the training centre has to achieve the corresponding international standard. An additional storey is proposed to accommodate extra supporting facilities for the athletes.
The design intends to capture the movement of football players on the field. From outside, a composition of fins and corrugated metal sheets forms a lightweight envelope skeleton of a morphing screen; and the composition is further reiterated inside by using a freeform arrangement of circular metal together building up dynamics and rhythm of speed. These tubes are responding to different sun angles to incorporate a sunscreening purpose.
Huge signage of Kitchee is integrated in the design of the elevation which could be seen at the first sight upon entry. The signature ‘Kitchee blue’ is leading the overall mood along the envelope. Apart from this featured color, the rest of the building is adopting a clean and simple palette of natural colored finishes.
The design is awarded Silver Prize in Hong Kong & Bay Area Design Award 2022.

Bauhinia Dance & Living Art Centre

Inspired by the silhouette of dancers, the architecture illustrates the spirit of Chinese dance from a re-creation of fluid moves through space. Organic forms are created and ecological approaches are adopted as a respect of the original site context. The natural topography is lifted up as a floating green carpet dancing along in the air, creating a highly opened public space with greenies underneath. Programmes are broken into elegant pieces and form a seamless void, which all come together as a big stage. When wandering around, visitors become the performers of their own stages, manifesting the purest form of living arts.

Tian Shan Cinema Complex - Shanghai, China

The design concept for the proposed building is an intertwining filmstrip that penetrates through the exterior and into the interior bridging the ceiling, wall and floor. The undulation of the filmstrip spatially defines where zones are formed to house various programs and spaces.

Exhibition Centre of Lighting Products - Zhongshan, China

Through an innovative and unique facade design conceptualizing the Chinese lantern adorned with carousel of paper horses, the two halls are seamlessly integrated into one, uniting tradition and modernity. The halls rotate at alternate angles to draw people towards the entrance, while the semi-circular main entrance appears to extend endlessly. The green podium/sky garden in Hall A, juxtaposed with the glass ceiling of Hall B, brings harmony between the town's culture and the environment, thus creating an extraordinary exhibition space.

Residential House - Fei Ngo Shan, Hong Kong

The architecture intends to blend into the natural environment of the site. The building uses a series of wooden louvers to mimic the rhythm of the surrounding forest, while private programmes appear as floating "tree tops" above the louvers.

Baiyun Qu People's Hospital - Guangzhou, China

The master plan aimed to preserve the existing hill and redefine the axis based on the existing canal, thus linking the programmatic "cores" together. The architectural design was inspired by the spirit of Chinese calligraphy. The fluidity and strength of the calligraphy strokes of the character "heart" inspires the design of the skin, underneath which sits the core areas of the building, creating a multi-dimensional yet cohesive design.

Commercial District Development - Zhu Hai, China

Crystals depict richness and inherent energy, capturing the spirit of life. The conceptual design is based on the ever-changing and multi-faceted forms of the crystal - rhythmic, stylish and avant garde - mirroring the diverse commercial, entertainment, relaxation and cultural activities happening within the Zhuhai Commercial & Cultural Centre.
The design calls for a cohesion between architecture and nature, capturing the essence of the ever-changing crystal and using the idea of 'crystal' and 'light' as unique architectural features. The light that scintillates off the architecture projects a moving, artistic dance of light and illusion, bringing out the lively nature of the design and reflecting the harmonious and energetic image of Zhuhai.
