海外消息, 比赛

Updates on 11 July 2022: Submission Deadline for ARCASIA Student’s Architectural Design Competition 2022 (SADC 2022) to HKIA Sec (bexa@hkia.org.hk) has been extended to 15 July 2022 (Fri) 5pm.

The Students’ Architectural Design Competition 2022 is organized by the ARCASIA Committee on Architectural Education (ACAE) and commissioned under UMA.

Objective

The objective of the Students’ Architectural Design Competition is to provide an arena for students from ARCASIA member Institutes to participate in ARCASIA activities. It is an opportunity for students from different cultures to exchange and share ideas on a particular design issue that is raised by ARCASIA every year.

Competition Theme

The Future of Architectural Tourism in Asia

A rich cultural and architectural heritage of Asian nations blended with innovative and high-tech buildings and skyscrapers of modern environmental built designs in many megapolises and cities of the region is becoming a valuable architectural asset and product for developing tourism hence unique features of iconic architecture and its solutions attract more and more tourists.

Meantime, while tourism architecture can shape the landscape in the long run by identifying practical design solutions that positively impact city branding and urbanization trends, the pressure of the tourism industry might create a split between the architecture and its location of specific cultural roots by threatening the sustainability of tourism itself since it damages the richness of cultural differences if it is mismanaged and ignored. This is only one aspect of existing issues.

Given the economic, social and environmental significance of tourism, there is a need to study issues and major factors that are affecting tourism development in the region including architectural tourism to have a comprehensive overview of the impact of architecture on sustainability, to have innovative solutions and identify current and future trends in this area. Students are required to deliberate their ideas, innovations and projects that would highlight and offer solutions and perspectives on this theme.
