Synopsis

The Hong Kong Bird Watching Society (HKBWS) was founded in 1957 and has been collecting bird records in Hong Kong since then, particularly in the Deep Bay area. In 2012, HKBWS implemented the Hong Kong Fishpond Conservation Scheme in the West Circle of Northern Metropolis to promote biodiversity and wetland conservation.
In this webinar, Ms. WOO will talk about the importance of the Deep Bay Wetlands, conservation history, and the potential changes to the current status brought by the Northern Metropolis Development Strategy. She will also briefly introduce the conservation work of HKBWS in the Deep Bay area, and the views of fishermen on the future of fishponds.
Meanwhile, E&SDC is organising a tour to visit the Deep Bay Wetlands on 10 December 2022. Stay tuned!
