About Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

The CPD Committee (CPDC) is responsible for organizing events for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for HKIA members and to promote & foster CPD programme for the architectural profession, and the terms of reference are :

  1. To organize CPD events and programmes.
  2. To review and implement the mandatory CPD programme.
  3. To co-ordinate architectural research.


The CPDC will also study the long-term CPD provision including how to enrich and refine the CPD programmes and to study the expansion of CPD programmes to cover architectural related disciplines such as architectural technicians and site supervisory staff, and to study also the engagement of or co-operation with other relevant CPD programme providers.

For issuance of Green Card, please complete the self-study CIST course and submit the CPD hour on your Member Area. Completion of the self-study CIST course will be counted for 1 CPD credit hour.

Resolution on amendments to the Rules of HKIA for reinforcement of the compliance of mandatory CPD requirements was adopted at the third Quarterly General Meeting held on 24 September 2009. Starting from 2011 (i.e. CPD Declaration Form Submission for 2010), Members, Non-resident members, Affiliates and Graduate Members are required to comply with the mandatory CPD requirements for renewal and reinstatement of HKIA membership. May relevant members pay attention to this and make sure your submission of CPD Declaration Form by 31 December.
