HKIA Future City Vision Research Grant 2022

The “Future City Vision” centering on Liveability and Sustainability issues of Hong Kong. As announced in the Chief Executive Policy Addresses in 2020 and 2021, Lantau Tomorrow Vision (LTV) and Northern Metropolis (NM) are two transformative core development plans which will shape the future of Hong Kong in the next 20+ years.
The Future City Vision Steering Committee will continue their input to the government, addressing the interests and comments of our members on these two and any other forthcoming major developments that will shape the future of our city. The awarded student under the guidance of the Steering Committee will document their 2022 events/activities related to the Future City Vision in a coherent format that would also further the student’s own study.
Eligibility
Current Master or PHD students studying Architectural and Urban Design, whose research or independent study is related to the Future Vision of the built/ urban environment of Hong Kong Nominated by an educational institution, an industry organisation, or a professional from architectural or related sectors.
Prize
Selected applicants will receive a maximum of HK$100,000 on successful completion of the research by March 2023, subject to the approval by the Board of Local Affairs (BLA).
Selection Criteria
The selection will be based on the students’ proposed output which shall include HKIA’s events/ initiatives related to the Future City Vision on Sustainability, Planning and Urban Design.
Shortlisted students will be invited to an interview and the awarded recipient will be selected by a Steering Committee formed by members of Planning and Urban Design Committee (PUDC) and Environmental and Sustainable Development Committee (ESDC) under the BLA.
