ARCASIA Thesis of the Year 2021 (TOY ARCASIA 2021)

INTRODUCTION
The Architects’ Regional Council Asia (ARCASIA) is a Council of the presidents of the National Institutes of Architects of twenty-one Asian countries that are members of ARCASIA. Every alternate year, Asian Congress of Architects (ACA) is hosted by one of the member countries of ARCASIA. The Architectural Society of China (ASC) is hosting the ACA19 in 2021. Therefore, the ARCASIA Thesis of the Year Awards 2021 is organised by ARCASIA and commissioned under ASC.

ENTRY ELIGIBILITY
The works are submitted by ARCASIA Member Institutes. Each institute must set up a procedure to select National Winners and submit 3 (three) national winners to the TOY ARCASIA Committee for the final judging (by the TOY ARCASIA Judging Committee). The work must be a latest/currently completed thesis of the fifth or final-year student in a first professional-degree program (5 years B.Arch or 4+2 years M.Arch accredited and qualified for professional registration of the country).  However Thesis of Post Professional or Postgraduate Courses i.e. Master Programs that are taken after B.Arch course (Professional Degree) will not be eligible for the consideration. Students cannot submit their work directly to TOY ARCASIA.

DELIVERABLES
DIGITAL MATERIALS (300 DPI)

  1. JPG files of ONE A1 (594mm x 840mm) Portrait format layout image consists of:
    - Thesis title and location address

    - Thesis brief data
    - Thesis design concept and description
    - Drawing and presentation 

  2. PDF file of text, identifying the submitting ARCASIA member institute, institute’s contact person and address, student’s name, name of department & university, postal address, email address & contact details.

SCHEDULE
1 Aug 2021 (Sun) 11:59pm (HKT)– Submission Deadline to HKIA
1 Sep 2021 (Wed) – HKIA to nominate maximum 3 teams to join the International Selection
1 Oct 2021 (Mon) – Announcement of Winners
31 Oct 2021 (Sun) – Declaration of Results

PRIZES
There will be up to three winners to be awarded as:

  1. Gold Award for the work that receives highest merit by majority of the judges, or receives the highest total score from all judges.
  2. Silver Award for the work that receives the second highest merit by all judges, or receives the second highest total score from all judges.
  3. Bronze Award for the work that receives the third highest merit by all judges, or receives the third highest total score from all judges.

SUBMISSION
Students of HKIA accredited schools and programmes please submit the required documents to HKIA Secretariat at bexa@hkia.org.hk by 1 August 2021 (Sunday) 11:59pm (HKT).  Late submission will not be considered.
