ARCASIA Students Architectural Design Competition 2021

The Architects’ Regional Council Asia (ARCASIA) is a Council of the presidents of the National Institutes of Architects of 21 Asian countries that are members of ARCASIA. This year, ARCASIA is going to organise an Online Design Competition among the individual students from ARCASIA member countries. This ARCASIA Students’ Architectural Design Competition 2021 is organised by the ARCASIA Committee on Architectural Education (ACAE) Secretariat.

The objective of the Competition is to provide an arena for students from ARCASIA Member Institutes to participate in ARCASIA activities. It is an opportunity for students from different cultures to exchange and share idea on particular design issue that is raised by ARCASIA every year.

This year’s Competition with the theme “PUBLIC SPACES IN 15-MINUTE LIFE CIRCLE”, This competition allows students to provide the solution to the problems from both physical and social perspectives on their 15-minute life circle and its public space. The program and design of the project are open to any level and scale. The project could be a renovation of an urban fragment, a regeneration of a garden, an installation to reconnect the neighbourhoods, a kid-friendly urban renewal, and so on. Students are encouraged to observe their cities, clarify the problems, arrange the program, and give a responsive solution in this competition.

All current full-time students studying in HKIA accredited Undergraduate Architecture programs are welcome to join the competition.  They could either submit project individually or team up with other students.  

HKIA would have a pre-selection to nominate maximum 3 teams representing Hong Kong to enter the international selection stage.  Below the important dates for your reference:

1 Aug 2020 (Sun) 11:59pm HKT – Submission Deadline to HKIA (Late submission will not be considered)

1 Sep 2020 (Wed) – HKIA to nominate maximum 3 teams to join the International Selection

1 Oct 2020 (Mon) – Announcement of Competition Results

31 Oct 2021 (Sun) – Declaration of Results
