HKIA x CIC Trophy Design Competition 2019

The Construction Industry Council (CIC) will be organising the first “Hong Kong Construction Skills Competition” (HKCSC) in March 2020 with the aims of uplifting the skill level of industry practitioners through competition, recognising those with excellent skills in their respective trades and promoting the professionalism of the construction industry, practitioners and trade tests to the public.

 

There are two categories of the Competition: Open Group and Youth Group. Each Group comprises 6-7 trades and each trade offers 3 prizes including Champion, First Runner-upand Second Runner-up.  There are 7 trades in Open Group: (1) Bar Bending and Fixing, (2) Electrical Wiring, (3) Metal Scaffolding, (4) Painting and Decorating, (5) Plumbing and Heating, (6) Wall and Floor Tiling and (7) Welding. Youth Group consists of 6 trades, they are: (1) Bricklaying, (2) Joinery, (3) Painting and Decorating, (4) Plumbing and Heating, (5) Wall and Floor Tiling and (6) Welding. Trophies will be presented to winners during the Award Ceremony.

 

Hong Kong Institute of Architects (HKIA) is joining hands with the CIC to co-organise “HKIA x CIC Trophy Design Competition 2019” (The Design Competition). On behalf of the Organizing Committee of the Design Competition, we would like to cordially invite all interested members (all categories), architectural and design students in Hong Kong to join The Design Competition to show your creativity of product design. Details are as follows:

 

  1. Objective of HKIA x CIC Trophy Design Competition 2019:

To engage our membership, architectural and design students in Hong Kong in designing 3 types of trophies for 7 Open Group competition trades and 3 types of trophies for 6 Youth Group competition trades of the HKCSC.

 

  1. Qualification of Application:

ALL categories of HKIA memberships, full-time architectural and design students in Hong Kong are welcome to join the Design Competition.

  3. Chairman of CIC – Mr. CHAN Ka-kui
  4. Chairman of Hong Kong Construction Sub-Contractors Association – Mr. CHAN Kim-kwong
  5. Director – Collaboration & Trade Testing of CIC – Ir Alex LEUNG

 

  1. Prizes:

       Gold Award : HK$20,000 cash prizes

  Silver Award : HK$15,000 cash prizes

Bronze Award : HK$10,000 cash prizes

                

  1. Copyright:

The copyright of the winning trophy designs is co-owned by the Construction Industry Council (CIC) and Hong Kong Institute of Architects (HKIA). The CIC and HKIA have the rights to use or not to use the winning trophies, and to reproduce, re-use, alter, modify, change or exploit the winning designs for non-profit use or promotional purpose without the consent of the concerned authors.

 

 

Designs should reflect the prestige and values of professional skills of Hong Kong’s construction industry. The winning design for the trophies should be dignify, creative, visually appealing, and adhere to the required specifications.

For submission, please send the application form together with all design materials by email, with the subject as “Submission of  HKIA x CIC Trophy  Design  Competition 2019”,  to The CIC Secretariat (corpcomm@cic.hk) on or before 27 December 2019 (Friday), 6:00pm. Result will be announced within one month from the submission deadline.
