Mutual Recognition of Accreditation Systems of Architectural Programmes between HKIA and AACA

Dear Members,

Mutual Recognition of Accreditation Systems of Architectural Programmes between The Hong Kong Institute of Architects (HKIA) and Architects Accreditation Council of Australia (AACA)

The HKIA and AACA have signed the renewal agreement for the mutual recognition of accreditation systems of architectural programmes which is effective for five years from 3 December 2015 until further renewal.

As a result of the mutual recognition of the respective accreditation procedures, both parties agree that :
1. The courses or programmes of study in architecture accredited by the HKIA may be accepted as meeting the professional academic qualification requirement for registration as an Architect by Australian registration authorities; and

2. The courses or programmes of study in architecture accredited by the registration boards in Australia and listed by AACA may be accepted as meeting the professional academic qualification requirement for membership of the HKIA.

Graduates from the courses or programmes of study in architecture accredited by the AACA fulfill the academic qualification requirement for sitting the HKIA / ARB Professional Assessment.
