Our Honorary Secretary Dominic LAM has just given an extensive summary report on the events in the first Quarter and I do not intend to repeat them but would like to just highlight a few items.
a. The Council was invited to Annual Spring Dinner hosted by the Coordination Department, Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in HKSAR on 23 February 2009.
b. The Joint Institute Dinner held on 19 January 2009 was hosted by HKIP on a rotational basis.
c. Mr. B Batjav, Vice Chairman of ARCASIA visited HKIA, on 24 February 2009.
d. The Hon Patrick Lau, SBS, JP hosted a lunch meeting with Office Bearers on 27 February 2009.
e. Office Bearers were invited to the Trade Development Council lunch on 02 March 2009.
f. Office Bearers hosted a lunch meeting for Housing Department Architects Association on 04 March 2009.
g. A joint meeting amongst Office Bearers and ARB members was held on 09 March 2009.
h. A joint meeting amongst Office Bearers and Architecture Centre officials was held on 11 March 2009.
i. The Council attended a sharing sessions with Architectural Services Department Architects Association on 19 March 2009.
j. The Council paid a visit to Mr Edward Yau, Secretary for Environment, on 19 March 2009.
k. President Anna Kwong and Honorary Secretary Dominic Lam attended the Annual General Meeting of Hong Kong Housing Department Architects Association on 20 March 2009.
l. The Council will be paying a courtesy visit to mainland authorities in Beijing on 29-31 March 2009.
m. Courtesy Visit to Ms. Eva Cheng, Secretary of Transport and Housing Bureau will be held on 3 April 2009.
n. HKIA will pay a courtesy Visit to Mr. Tsang Tak Shing, Secretary for Home Affairs on 16 April 2009.
o. Courtesy Visit to Mrs. Rita Lau, Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development, will be arranged on 17 April 2009.
p. HKIA was being invited as a supporting organization in the Eco Expo Asia 2009 to be held in Oct 2009.
q. President will propose more training posts for graduates of two local school of architecture upon graduation on a provisional basis.
r. HKIA is hopeful to obtain funding support from our government to host the Hong Kong-Shenzhen Biennale at the end of 2009 and Venice Biennale in September 2010.
s. HKIA is planning to visit green organization NGOs, Buildings Department, Lands Department, Planning Department and Housing Authority, etc.
