5.12汶川特大地震紀念館(原名北川地震紀念館)
5.12 WENCHUAN EARTHQUAKE NATIONAL MEMORIAL(BEICHUAN NATIONAL EARTHQUAKE MEMORIAL)

在5.12汶川大地震中,受災慘重的北川縣城作為地震遺址公園保留下來,在北川中學原址上建設唯一的國家級紀念館。

設計以“裂縫”為主題,將其貫穿於整個紀念館區和紀念館的空間設計,將建築主體置入地表之下,營造出大地“裂縫”的地景,將災難事件永遠銘刻在大地之間。整個紀念館園區的地表以草地覆蓋,裂縫造型通過銹蝕鋼板強化。放棄突出地面的建築形象的選擇表達對自然之力的思考,也是對我們蔑視自然行為的反思。

May 12, 2008, A 8.2 magnitude earthquake happened at Wenchuan County in Sichuan Province. Devastated Beichuan County is planned to remain as part of Earthquake Relic Park, also Beichuan Earthquake Memorial is to be built on the site of previous Beichuan Middle School.

The concept of “Crack” is applied as the theme throughout the entire spatial design of Architecture and Park of Beichuan Earthquake Memorial. The building body covers the underground to crate the “Crack” landscape and free-frame the disaster event on the earth in art way.

The surface of the building is covered by grass; the shape of crack is strengthened by corroded steel plate and rust slate. A short axis implies the spatial relationship and orientation to the original gate, teaching building and the playground of Beichuan Middle School. The ruin of original teaching building is covered with earth to record the history of Beichuan Middle School for ever. 5.12 Earthquake has once again confirmed to human that the power of nature is irresistible. Human beings should recognize to respect nature, and get along with nature harmoniously. This kind of way of giving up “building above ground” implies the rethinking about the power of nature and our disrespect to nature.

FAN ZENG ART GALLERY

位於水墨氤氳的人文之鄉江蘇南通的范曾藝術館, 是為范曾書畫藝術作品以及南通范氏詩文世家的展示、交流、研究、珍藏而建造。建築規模7028平方米的藝術館,從與傳統文化有著緊密情感關聯的“院”為切入點,依照三種不同院落的自發性生成秩序鋪展開略帶鬆散的局部關係,進而構架起以井院、水院、石院、合院為主體的疊加的立體院落, 從而突破性地將院落從物化關係中脫離,最終呈現遊目與觀想的合一,以期達到“得古意而寫今心”的意境。

Fan Zeng art gallery is built for exhibition, communication, research and collection of the calligraphy, paintings and poetries, which is created by master Fan Zeng and the Fan Family they lived in Nantong city, the township of humanity, which is filled with  the atmosphere of ink and wash. The concept of the art gallery, which is 7028 square meters, started from “courtyard”, an element of traditional space. According to the spontaneous generation order of three different courtyards, the slightly loosely local relations are developed. With those courtyards, a three – dimensional courtyard framework is established, in which those courtyards play major roles. In order to create an atmosphere of “making modern creations under ancient rules”, the designers separate the courtyard from the physical circumstance, and then combine the visiting behavior together with thinking.

無論是茂園的建築設計、景觀設計還是室內設計,這次的命題恐怕“重構”的成分都要大過“新建”。通過對舊有部分的建築和地景有選擇地採取保留∕修補∕移用∕加建等多種手段,再輔以新建元素的介入,使一個新的“場所”被重構出來,它承載了過往的歷史資訊和記憶,也複合了更多的新生活的內涵。
Whether it is the architectural design, landscape design or interior design of Mao Garden, the "reconstructing" element must be greater than the “construction". By a selective reservation / repair / transfer / construction of the old buildings and landscape and other means, together with the new elements involved, a new "place" is reconstructed, and it carries a great deal of history information and memory as well as more intension of new life.

YU - HSIU MUSEUM OF ART

基地位於南投九九峰下,配合基地形狀、法規及聚落型態,由三棟主要建築:美術館、餐廳、假日學校,運用景觀建築(Landscape Architecture)的概念,錯落有致的排列,因地制宜,形成村落巷弄般的戶外空間,以中國遊園「一阻、二引、三通」的觀念,將參觀動線拉長,沈淀心情進入主館,展示空間似滾動條般,經樓梯、走道緩緩展開,讓參觀者在內/外、明/暗、鬆/緊之間遊歷於展品之間,最後來到頂層的特展間,對應九九峰,成為人為與自然的辯證對話關係。
The site is a scenic location surrounded by rugged mountain ranges and rippling streams. There are three main buildings: the Art Museum, the restaurant, the holiday school, using the main concept of “block, lead and reveal”, which is the Chinese garden sequential principle of landscape architecture, we elongate walking sequence from outside to the main hall, visitors walk between inside/outside, lightness/darkness, loose/tight, and finally to the Special Exhibition Room on top responding to Jiujiu Peaks, having conversation between nature and human.

堅尼地城游泳池
KENNEDY TOWN SWIMMING POOL

新堅尼地城游泳池的造型有如一艘充滿科幻性的太空船,矗立在堅尼地城社區的入口處。整個項目共分成兩期分階段落成, 首階段工程包括一個室外50米標準游泳池和嬉水池, 已於2011年5月投入使用; 第二階段工程包括兩個室內游泳池和建築外部的社區公園, 已於不久前竣工。

項目的原址是一個位處於海濱地段的廢棄停車場,這個位置正好處於一個被主要交通幹道所環繞的三角型地帶, 是一個矚目的位置。項目的設計概念受到貝殼的造型所啟發, 為乘坐電車或使用道路從東邊進入堅尼地城的旅客帶來難忘和眼前一亮的觀感享受。這個獨特的建築作為堅尼地城社區入口的「地標符號」為社區的入口帶來一道亮麗的風景線。

項目採用了鋅所建造的頂部, 物料的可塑性充分適用於設計概念中的建築物造型, 而室外游泳池的坐向在最大的程度上阻擋了交通幹道上所發出的噪音,使泳客在不受騷擾下的情況下, 可以充分享受維多利亞港的景色。加上鋅這種物料擁有隨環境而改變顏色的能力, 有效彌補了原來分成兩期, 跨度六年的建造週期所造成新舊建築外觀不一致的問題。在室內池的天花和牆身採用了輕巧、中空和透光的設計,加上均帶有抗高度太陽能的建造物料, 牆身使用了隔層玻璃和高效PVB膜, 天花使用了隔熱的PTFE物料帶來良好的室內採光和恆溫效果。

Likened to a futuristic spaceship by a local newspaper, the new Kennedy Town Swimming Pool (KTSP) was constructed in two phases. The first phase was opened to the public in May 2011 and comprises a 50-metre outdoor pool and a smaller leisure pool. The second phase, recently completed, comprises two indoor pools and a community garden at its tip.

Built on a derelict waterfront car park, KTSP, owes its distinctive shape to the triangular site. Inspired by a shell, the building addresses the experience of arrival to Kennedy Town from the east, serving as an icon of the community. Located east of the Belcher Bay Park, “Object in the Park” was envisaged, acting as the ‘head’ of an extended landscape.

The shape of the sweeping zinc roof responds to the building’s context: the orientation of the outdoor pool maximises the view of Victoria Harbour while shielding swimmers from the noise of the main bus and tram route to the east. Natural zinc’s self-healing properties and ability to return to its ultimate patina was appropriate for a building constructed in two phases with a six year gap.

Light weight, long spans, transparency, natural light and excellent performance against solar gain were key criteria in the selection of materials for window walls and the roof over the indoor pool. Laminated glass with a high performance PVB layer was chosen for window walls while insulated PTFE membrane was used for the roof light, flooding the indoor pool hall with natural light.

來自老樹與環境的觸動
入口以低矮友善的量感延續數十年來老樹下的常民生活。南北側開口搭配適度遮陽安排「人的空間」,由東西及中央,安排為「書的空間」。

一書,一世界
「每一座圖書館中,都有琳琅滿目的書架,而任何一本即將被翻開的書,都是一個寬廣而意想不到的世界」。建築外在以簡明易懂卻蘊含文化質感的姿態,提供明朗的辨識度及供普世玩味的話題。

人人閱讀,處處閱讀
在我們的圖書館中,每一個人,都可以找到屬於自己的角落。

The inspiration from the old trees and the environment.
The lower entrance with green accents is reminiscent of the green tunnel by the old trees in the nearby landscape.
The opening in the North & South with moderate sunshading is organized to be the ‘Human’s Space', as for the solid walled space in the East & West side it is dedicated as the ‘Books’ Space’.

One book, one universe.
Library’s bookshelves are richly filled with various books. Each book actually encloses a particular world in its own, by opening the book a vast unexpected & exciting world is about to be uncovered.
The building’s exterior conveys its cultural content, the simple external texture is clearly readable. 

Everybody’s reading, reading can be everywhere.
Within this library, everyone can find a private spot; a corner to locate one’s self & to be one’s self.

無錫陽山田園大講堂
WUXI YANGSHAN RURAL LECTURE HALL

無錫田園東方是中國大陸首個田園綜合體,是以田園調性為基礎,體驗田園生活,展現田園情懷的具有示範效應的主題生活體驗社區。主要配套功能是田園生活館(兼蜜桃故事館)、井咖啡、饗餐廳、花間堂人文客棧、多多的麵包樹、華德福學校、拾房書院及田園大講堂。在項目設計中,一方面將陽山鎮的一個古老村落“拾房村”部分保留及改造;一方面以田園理念為原則加建了若干新建築。本次參選的“田園大講堂”就是落成於田園與古舍中的一個新建建築。田園大講堂顧名思義是關於田園的講堂。主要功能是田園東方主辦田園及鄉建論壇與會議,兼辦發佈慶典、田園創客等活動的場所,以田園為主題,建築自然生長於田園,融合於田園的講堂。田園大講堂的建設,不僅是因為園區自身功能上的需要,還肩負著無錫市政府陽山桃花節主場館的社會責任。
Wuxi East Countryside is cultural and tourist park opening to the outside, and also a demonstrated theme park, which is based on rural style, and shows the rural feelings and life. There are rural life pavilion (Peach Storyeum), Well Coffee, restaurant, Huajiantang humanistic inn, breadfruit trees, Waldorf School, Shifang Academy and rural lecture hall. In project design, on the one hand, Yangshan town, an ancient village "Shifang village", was reserved partly and rebuilt; on the other hand, several new buildings were built based on rural concept. The candidate rural lecture hall is a new building completed in the countryside and the old houses. Rural lecture hall, as its name suggests, is a lecture hall about rural scenery, where Wuxi East Countryside hosts rural and township BBS and meetings, the celebration is released, and “pastoral entrepreneur” activity and so on can be held. Namely it is a lecture hall based on rural theme, where buildings are integrated in countryside like plants growing naturally. The construction of rural lecture hall, not only is because of the functions of the park itself, but also shoulder the social responsibility it has as the main venue of Yangshan peach flower festival held by Wuxi city government.

美術館用感性的詞形容是“捏泥巴”,理性的詞是流形——一個從頭至尾充滿運動變化的,有兩個或多個不同表現形式端頭的形體,它表現一個過程,不斷流動變化的空間形體,從靜態到動態的過程,時空演變的過程,機體生長的過程,沒有焦點的建築,包含從線性到非線性變化的幾何構成,兼具拓撲與分形的特徵。

To describe this design with the emotional word is "mud holding", rational words is “manifold”. The thinking is a main idea of the designer in recent years, he put forward a new concept of "manifold"--- From first to last, the building is full of movement and has two or more different forms at the different ends, the form is not a result but a process, a continuous flowing and changing physical space, a process from static to dynamic, a temporal spatial evolution process. A body growing process, a non-focus building, a geometrical composition from linear to nonlinear changes with both topology and fractal characteristics.

Physical space of this exhibition has ten changes; Mechanics---- the shape from static to dynamic,  Differential---- line from straight to curve,  Level---- block from large to small ,Optics ----color from dark to light, Measurement---- surface layer from thick to thin,  Meterage---- gap of each face brick from broad to narrow, Physical ----texture from coarse to smooth, Dimension ----space from two-dimensional to three-dimensional, Character ----temperament from rough to soft, Philosophy---- attributes from Yin to yang.
